To be on this rollercoaster ride with this amazing club has been one of the highlights of my career so far. For a smaller Yorkshire club to achieve premier league status was a huge thing for the club, town and Yorkshire.
The focus of this shoot was not just the football but also more importantly the impact of the promotion on the town and fans.
My aim was to capture the spirit of the club and the passion of the fans. I would arrive on match day at around 9.30am and would walk the streets looking for terriers (not the dogs). I was met with friendly faces and directions to pubs and local hangouts where the energy of the fans was palpable.
On the coach for an away match with the fans I remember one of them saying to me, “it doesn’t matter what happens this season we are just really happy to be here”. And that played out at as the season went on it was difficult to know if the team had won, lost or drawn as their singing was always the same volume and energy. True dedication and love for their club!
